YouTube Music joins as main sponsor of BAMV Fest and introduces new category

YouTube Music joins Buenos Aires Music Video Festival (BAMV Fest) as main sponsor of the fifth edition of the largest international music video event in the continent. The Google platform reinforces the support for this audiovisual format by highlighting the talent of filmmakers and musical artists.

This year the Festival will have new categories -32 in total- and will open the call for entries on July 25, where the best music videos made in the last year will participate. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 2023.

The collaboration of YouTube in this event is a strong alliance and a clear bet to give greater visibility to the best music videos. According to data from YouTube Argentina, 67% of people in the country prefer to listen to music that also offers the option of video, to enter more deeply into the artist's or band's proposal.

In this sense, this sponsorship is expected to be a significant boost for the creation of high quality content and the promotion of talent in Argentina and throughout the region.

New category: YouTube Shorts

This year, a new category "YouTube Shorts" is added for the first time, which seeks to recognize and guide the creative work of content creators from Argentina, who will join a participatory experience of various meetings led by specialists from the platform and other professionals.

Why YouTube Shorts? Shorts are videos up to 60 seconds long that allow artists to reach new audiences in creative ways. As of January of this year, artists who posted weekly Shorts saw the majority of their channel's new subscribers come from those posts. In addition, the top 1,000 most popular songs on Shorts generated more than 280 billion views.

This new category for content creators aims to re-signify in an original way a song from the YouTube Music library to talk about the topics they usually deal with individually in their channels.

An International Jury will select the best creations that will participate in a race for the best positioned short film on the platform.

Registration is free and those who take part in this process will receive a special certification from BAMV Fest and YouTube.
